Carbon Fiber HTPLA Filament by Proto-Pasta

Composite Carbon Fiber HTPLA is tougher, breaks less when handling, has a higher heat deflection temp (when annealed) and is easier to process than Proto-Pasta's Original Carbon Fiber PLA.

Heating Treating (annealing) your Pasta

Before you begin, place some tinfoil between any heating elements to deflect direct heat, if needed. Preheat your oven to 110c (225f) and allow the oven temperature to stabilize. Leave the supports on your parts and place it in the oven on a non-radiating surface (like glass, ceramic, or composite) for one hour. Then, turn off the oven and let them remain in the oven to cool, this will minimize distortion. Parts must be baked above 60c for any crystallization to occur. 

Carbon Fiber HTPLA Filament Print Settings

These settings are recommended by Proto-Pasta and are meant as a starting point to help find your optimal print settings. They should work for most 3D printers; however, you may need to experiment outside these ranges. If you find settings that work better with your printer, feel free to let us know and we will be happy to post them.

Nozzle Size: .50mm or larger. We have had success with .40mm, but keep in mind that composite filaments can jam smaller nozzles. Also, Carbon Fiber HTPLA is somewhat abrasive, so we recommend upgrading to a wear resistant nozzle.

Print Temp: 195-220c

Bed Temp: 0-50c

Print Surface: GeckoTek, BuildTak, Kapton Tape
